Chrome OS update for Chromebooks delivers better touch support

Google has just rolled out an updated version of the Chrome OS for a variety of Chromebooks for different manufacturers. While there are several notable features and the usual bug fixes, better touch support is probably the most noteworthy component of this update. The update brings the build number up to 36.0.1985.126.

Yahoo scoops up mobile analytics firm Flurry to strengthen their mobile products

Yahoo has been on a mission to strengthen their mobile products for a while now and to push that envelope even further, the company has now announced they’ll be acquiring mobile analytics firm Flurry after having reached a definitive agreement. Flurry, was started in 2008 and today has reached over 170,000 developers across 1.4 billion devices monthly with their services being offered to pretty much every mobile operating system out there one way or another.

 

Views update brings comments and +1s to photo sphere shares on Google Maps

Google announced that it updated the views inside Google Maps to make it more interactive for viewers who love to see photo spheres. Now, with the update, you can add your +1 and comments to a photo sphere to let the photographer know how much you appreciate their images.

 

Android Wear source code uploaded to AOSP

In a message posted on the Android Building Google Group, Bill Yi has announced that GPL projects for the software running on both the Samsung Gear Live and the LG G Watch have been posted to the appropriate places in the Android source tree. Interested developers can find them under the tag android-4.4w_r1, and we’re told that there are very few changes since the KitKat 2.2 maintenance release. As of now, we don’t see any specific repos for the Gear Live or the G Watch, but some very important portions (such as /system/core) are available.
