We’re drawing near to a couple of big smartphone releases, not the least of which is the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 5. While previous reports have confirmed specs such as a 5.67-inch QHD AMOLED display, wireless charging and more, there hasn’t been much word on the internals powering the phone. Now, thanks to SamMobile, we have some more info on that front.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 will reportedly come packed with 4GB of LP-DDR4 RAM, giving it more and faster RAM than nearly every other phone on the market. In addition to that, the Note 5 will pack a new Exynos 7422 SoC that will be Samsung’s first real single-chip unit. It will hold an octa-core 64-bit processor, GPU, RAM, storage and a Shannon 333 LTE modem, all within the same chip. As long as no issues occur with this set-up, this should be a real beast.
Rumors have pegged the Galaxy Note 5 for a launch at IFA 2015. Recently, however, word has been swirling that Samsung may release early in mid-August. This move is prompted by slowing sales of the Galaxy S6, as well as the upcoming launch of iPhones that will put forward strong competition against Samsung’s devices.
