Huawei again rumored to be working on new Nexus smartphone

Now that we’re into the summer, the Nexus rumors are going to start heating up, and today we’ve got a spark to help start that roaring rumor flame.

According to The Information, Huawei is working with Google on a new Nexus smartphone that’ll debut this fall. Additionally, it’s said that the two companies are working on an app store for China, where users are unable to download content from Google Play due to government regulations.

A rumor from earlier this year claimed that Google is actually working on two new Nexus phones for 2015, one from LG and one from Huawei. The LG is expected to be the smaller of the two, offering a 5.2-inch display with a Snapdragon 808, making it sound like an updated Nexus 5. Meanwhile, the Huawei phone will reportedly offer a Snapdragon 810 and 5.7-inch display, making it an option for phablet fans.

If these rumors hold true, Huawei’s Nexus phone will be its first attempt at creating a Nexus handset. And while we’ll have to wait until we get it in our hands before making any judgments about it, Huawei has made some attractive handsets in the past, and so it’ll be interesting to see what its first Nexus phone looks like.

Fearless Fantasy finally hits Google Play Store

A few weeks after the role-playing game Fearless Fantasy has hit the Amazon App Store, it’s now ready for download from the Google Play Store. This epic adventure game first came to iOS, became very popular, and was soon demanded by Android users. The tinyBuild-created RPG brings a dangerous bounty hunter named Leon on a mission to finish weird creatures and save a girl.

The game’s battle system is challenging to every player, requiring his turn- and gesture-based skills to get rewards, land critical hits, and finish all levels. It’s a bit creepy what with all the horrific and creepy characters you can find in this weird RPG. To block enemy attacks and score hits, just swipe, tap or pause on the screen.

Fearless Fantasy is available for $3.99 and it seems there are no more in-app purchases offered. Download the game once and you can experience the full story with animated voice-overs and cutscenes. Expect epic boss fights and more progression systems to keep you excited. There’s campaign and survival modes to challenge you as well.

You are Leon the bounty hunter and only you can save the girl from that awful marriage. Can you do this challenge?

Twitch updated with “Pop Out” video to watch videos anywhere on your device

Twitch-pop-outLive video game streaming service Twitch has updated their app with a new feature they call “Pop Out”. Similar to Samsung’s video player you can select a video and hit “Pop Out” to allow the video to leave the app and continue playing overtop of any other apps. This allows you to continue to watch your favorite gaming stream while still checking emails, texting, or anything else you need to do.

To access the “Pop Out” feature head to the gear icon within any stream and at the bottom it will say “Pop out”. After that the video should literally pop out allowing you to continue using your device with the stream still playing overtop. You can also move or resize the player around so it’s not in your way.

Here is a Reversible Micro USB Cable on Kickstarter, Just in Time for USB Type-C

With the next round of flagship phones from OnePlus, Google, and Samsung almost upon us, we are about to usher in an era that ditches the microUSB port in favor of the much more user-friendly and feature-rich USB Type-C. USB Type-C is not only reversible, but it also transfers data and power faster, while acting as an extender for all sorts of dongles. It’s going to be awesome when our phones have USB Type-C ports.

But what about current phones that won’t ever be able to access the fun that is a reversible UBS Type-C? Well, they could turn to this newly launched Kickstarter for a product called the Micro-Flip, which is a reversible microUSB cable.

The campaign kicked off this week, jumping out to a early $7,000 in funding within a few hours. It hasn’t moved much in the last 24 hours, but with a funding goal of $15,000, it could get there in a matter of days depending on how the tech crowd reacts to it.

The Micro-Flip doesn’t offer any additional features outside of being reversible, but that may be enough of a reason for some of you to buy it. I have seem some concern over at reddit from folks who think this could put too much pressure or odd angles on your phone’s microUSB port if used enough times, and that it may reduce the port’s life. That would not be good for obvious reasons.

The Micro-Flip can be had for as little as $12. Its creators hope to close funding by mid-August before shipping in October.
