Wizard of Oz Fact #10: The Film’s Iconic Score Was Nearly Cut Down

Studio executives initially considered removing several musical numbers, believing the film contained too many songs for a fantasy adventure. Fortunately, the creative team fought to keep the score intact, including “Over the Rainbow,” which was almost cut entirely. The song went on to win an Academy Award and became Judy Garland’s signature performance.
