Ray Bolger developed the Scarecrow’s distinctive voice and mannerisms by drawing on his experience in vaudeville. His loose, rhythmic speech patterns and playful delivery gave the character a whimsical charm. Bolger’s background in stage comedy helped him bring a sense of spontaneity and warmth to the role.
