Wizard of Oz Fact #18: The Tin Man’s Tears Were Made of Chocolate Syrup

When the Tin Man cries after receiving his heart, the tears running down his face were actually chocolate syrup. The dark liquid showed up clearly on camera and flowed more convincingly than water under the bright studio lights. This practical effect added emotional weight to the scene while maintaining the character’s metallic appearance.
