Sprint’s LG G2 Gets An OTA Update With Support For LG’s Knock Code Security System

One of the features LG pushed hard with the announcement of the G3 was its Knock Code screen locking feature. While the device is asleep, you can tap on the screen in predefined locations to wake it and unlock instantly. Knock Code actually debuted on the G Pro 2, but now Sprint’s G2 is getting it as well.

The update (with the odd version “ZVD”) is beginning to roll out today and is coming in stages.

If you’ve got an unlocked/international version of HTC’s One M8, you might be wondering when your next Android update is coming. According to HTC Vice President of Management Mo Versi, the answer is “late next week.” The company is planning an update to Android 4.4.3.

Verizon’s Moto X And Moto G Are Getting Soak Tests For KitKat 4.4.4

Motorola’s sale to Lenovo doesn’t seem to have dampened its resolve for speedy Android updates. After upgrading the 2013 DROID line to the latest version of KitKat earlier this week, it looks like the Moto X and the Verizon-only version of the Moto G are getting ready for the same treatment. We’ve been sent alerts that some users are being invited to a “soak test” for Android 4.4.4, which means that a full rollout is probably a few weeks away at most.

After Pressure From The European Commission, Google Will No Longer Call Games With In-App Purchases ‘Free’ On The Play Store

Play-icon-large Consumer unrest over the prevalence of in-app purchases in free-to-play games has grown as of late, and nowhere is it more apparent than in Europe. The European Commission, the EU’s legislative arm, has issued instructions to both Google and Apple to more accurately market the erstwhile “free” games. They’ve also instructed both companies not to encourage children to buy virtual items with real money after considerable complaints from consumers. Today the Commission reported on its progress, including a favorable response from Google.
