Wizard of Oz Fact #90: The Ruby Slippers Were Nearly Lost to History
Several pairs of ruby slippers were created for the film, but most disappeared after production wrapped. One pair resurfaced decades later in an MGM auction, sparking renewed interest in their preservation. Today, surviving pairs are displayed in museums and remain among the most valuable pieces of Hollywood memorabilia ever discovered.
