Wizard of Oz Fact #109: The Scarecrow's Improvised Dancing
Ray Bolger, who played the Scarecrow, improvised much of his physical comedy and dancing. His rubber-limbed movements were so effective that they became one of the film’s most memorable elements. Bolger had originally auditioned for the role of the Tin Man.
