
Although the Kansas sequences appear at the beginning and end of the film, they were among the final scenes shot. By the time the cast returned to the sepia‑toned farm setting, they had already spent months immersed in the colorful world of Oz. Filming the Kansas scenes last helped the actors bring a sense of closure and emotional grounding to Dorothy’s journey.
